St Johns Road Block 3 - Shiraz 2014

Background
These old vines were picked 6 weeks after the rest of the vineyard using a Pellenc Selectiv harvester which de-stems in the vineyard, collecting only the beautiful individual berries. Following harvest, the Shiraz fruit was small-batch, open fermented in half-tonne bins staying on skins for 10 days. Malolactic fermentation and maturation took place in second and third fill French oak Hogsheads. Hogshead barrels are well suited to Barossa Shiraz production as they give the right amount of tannin support without overpowering the natural fruit sweetness of the wine. The result is a soulful wine showing great flavour depth and richness of colour.
